In case some are interested to attend a laundry seminar, I received this flyer about a laundry seminar (with four modules) organized by the Power Clean Institute on 17, 24 and 31 March and 7, 14, 21 and 28 April 2007 for a minimal fee. The topics include: (1) financial aspect of laundry business; (2) manpower, marketing and licensing; (3) different stages of laundry operation; and (4) dry cleaning, stain removal and business taxes. The tel. no. to call is 747-5546.
The Technology Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC), a government agency, also offers a 2 or 3-day seminar this March on the laundry business but cost is around PhP3,000+. Just check their website for more details
.
I already attended both seminar and hereunder are my personal views:
A. Power Clean – fee is minimal at 200 pesos per module; 150 pesos for existing members – (yup, they will invite you to be a member for a minimum purchase of their laundry products worth 5,000 pesos); module coverage is very basic and easy to comprehend; there will be no hand-outs available; there will be some product demo (especially highlighting the advantage of their laundry products).
From my vantage point: For the owners, attend all modules with special attention on modules 1 & 2; and then encourage your staff to attend modules 3 & 4!
B. TLRC – fee is substantial; the 3-days seminar is actually being compressed in 2-days; subject coverage is comprehensive with hand-outs; reference documents are actually theoretical or textbook literatures — i.e., if your patient enough to do your own research, you can source them either from the internet or at the TLRC library; resource speakers are from industrial laundry services thus their lecture mindset is institutional-oriented; advantage is that they are more sophisticated; disadvantage is that they might not be comfortable answering basic questions or you may get intimidated to ask simple questions.
From my vanatge point: If you have the resources (time and money) and above-average comprehension level (it’s a two-day lecture, so dapat hindi mag-rereboot ang memory brain chip n’yo ) go for it! And of course, kailangan marunong kayo mag-breakdown sa mga lecture notes n’yo kung ano ang applicable sa laundry operations n’yo at yung hindi, kasi baka maging tendency niyo eh ipattern nyo kung ano ang natutunan nyo dun sa lecture at magastusan kayo ng husto tapos later on magsisi kayo dahil hindi pala applicable.
MY BEST RECOMMENDATION:
1) BASAHIN N’YO ANG THREAD NA ITO FROM THE START
2) MAGTANONG KINA MA’M ETTEN AT SIR KUSKOS-BALUNGOS PARA SA MGA PRACTICAL TIPS
