Greetings on this Labor Day holiday! Just wanted to share my three-month experience dito sa laundry business. After three months, my combined operating loss (yes loss pa rin) is around PhP4,000. Buti na lang I have a full-time job na masasandalan kasi mahirap kung ito lang ang pagkukunan ko ng pangkabuhayan. Anyway, this excludes my capital investment. IMO I’m on track in rehabilitating the business so long as I keep operating costs in check, improve quality of service, and get more customers. As for my pick-up station, I’ve started canvassing for installers of the glass/steel door/frame, and carpenter/painter/electrician/plumber for the repairs. Nakabili na nga ako ng steel shelvings na easy to assemble/disassemble. I also interviewed potential staff. Target ko June opening pero yung staff mga two weeks before will undergo training in the main shop.

greetings to everyone!
glad to hear unica that hindi ka na-zezero. ganyan naman talaga.. if you read blueknight’s postings ang loss nya is 4000 na. this is totally true na buti na lang at may full time job sya.
yun naman talaga ang turo sa kahit na sinong mag put up ng biz, if you have a full time job, don’t quit just yet until kailangan ka na sa expansion ng biz mo. that’s my personal experience too.
about your question regarding maong shorts, i think nabanggit ko na before meron talagang magpapalaba ng puro maong lang, kami we charge premium sa ganyang cases, kaya nag -che chek muna kami ng number and kinds of clothes para ma advice kaagad kung magkano ang charge sa customer. pero sa yo, understandable na mura ka pa mag charge, kasi 2 weeks ka palang naman nang hahatak ka pa ng customers, kesa itulak mo silang palayo di ba?
siguro mas maganda ang itanong mo, ilan ang maong? hindi ilan ang maong na pantalon, o maong na jacket, or even mini skirt na maong, hehehe! pero kung paisa isa lang naman talaga, we still charge regular price, except pag lahat ng items puro maong, or may 3 kilo ang maong, we charge premium at 60/kilo. sa shop ko lang naman, kasi 30/kilo kami.
kasi the same banana naman yun eh, mahirap pa ring labhan at mahirap pa rin matuyo..:)

to blueknight,
i know your target at this point is to make your loss zero and make it 50,000+ positive. with the way you focus, i know you’re on the right track. btw, i hope you’ve made a thorough calculation on your pick up station, talking about calculated risk, :)
have you compared price of steel/aluminum door against wood framed glass door? alam ko mas mura coz that’s what i used at my other branch before. d ko lang alam where you can attach it at your shop.
good luck!

blueknight,
mas maganda walang loss, di ba? ang loss kasi makukuha yan dahil sa fixed cost natin. Taas kc fixed cost, so we need to have more production to bring down evenly the fixed cost. I know a laundry in dumaguete that charges P15-18/kg only. I’m intrigued how they do it. But if we do the math, if the personnel cost is low, and the rent is free, and the production is high, Kikita parin siya. So, ang goal talaga, target your break even point. Sa akin, break even ko is 47-50 kgs a day (depreciation cost included). Paglampas ko dayn, kikita na ako. Try to compute yours.-perpax-

About pricing, yan dapat ang bigyan agad ng attention ng Club..kaya nga excited ako dito and can’t wait for Sept para sa first assembly…hands-up ako to all the people behind this especially to Miss Eten.
Kasi ang competition sa laundry business masyadong mahigpit pero kung ireregulate ang pricing lahat masaya..sa quality na lang magkakatalo…i just don’t know kung lahat ma-aappreciate yun.
