Good day everyone. It’s nice to have this site full of people helping each other.
I’m new in the laundry business (opened just this December 2006) but have made anything possible to track down every cost of the process. I would appreciate if we can share some of these so that we will know the industry standard. With this, we know if our gas cost per kg, for example, is above the prevailing cost so we can make adjustments or ask what others did.
When I started operation, I thought 1 washer and 1 dryer is a perfect match, but as we do it everyday, it seems 3 washers need 2 dryers. And recently, I discovered 1 washer needs 2 dryers to have equal output. How about yours?-Perpax
you’re correct, ideally it should be 3 washers and 2 dryers. this is not to compensate the other dryer but actually to have a back up equipment just in case the other bogs down.
during my early days in my laundry shop, i only started with one pair but as the customers increased, as i said before i bought an additional equipment. If you read previous postings, we suggest hanging dry the clothes to minimize gas consumption, and also to allow cooling down of machines. that way, you make the machines rest also.
just to share also, output of machines really depends on the condition of the clothes, like if they’re heavily soiled or not..if the clothes are not that dirty, sometimes, 12 mins turnaround time for the complete process is enough, then hang dry for 1 hour and put in the dryer for 5 mins then fold.
hope this added knowledge
