Hi everyone,
I’m also one laundry business owner and I am so glad to have found this forum. I have read some entries but I have yet to finish all 149 pages. It’s so good to read business success stories…with branches multiplying…it’s very inspiring. I opened my shop in 2005 but it was not a success. It took more than a year for the sales to pick up and after 2 years, my contract with my lessor ended. I cannot renew it because the owner sold the building so I had no choice but to vacate it. It was hard to find a location near that area so I closed it. I opened another new shop just last February. I’m on my fifth month but with the number of customers coming in, it still does not cover my expenses. How long does it really take for sales to pick up after opening?
Any comment will help! Thanks!-

Hi Rory,
There are several factors that affect sales.Sales really depends on the way you handle the business. After you’ve put up the business, the next important thing you have to do is market the service that you offer to invite customers to come in. Another factor is your staff, how does he handle customers? Do you also keep record of your customers contact numbers? This is to follow up, when are they bringing their dirty clothes again. Or do you offer pick up and deliver?
These are just few of the things I need to know if its implemented.
To share you an experience, I recently bought an existing laundry shop, which the owner gave up because she said, she was always negative in sales. I bought the business because I know it has potential. I also learned later that the business was mismanaged. In the 3 months that it’s been running, never did I shell out money and I’m already on my way to my “ROI”. So you may be wondering, what’s my secret? Actually there’s no secret. It’s just how you handle the business.
There, I hope I was able to shed light.
Is it ok if I include you in the list of club members?
(yeah, I know it is)

Hi Monette,
Thanks for sharing! Wow! Your story gave me hope. I think I’m weak when it comes to marketing. I do flyering but most of the buildings around me are the condotel type and are very strict when it comes to giving out flyers. I will try the strategies I’ve read here.
Yes, I’d be happy to join the club! I too have the same passion for the business. Thanks
