Going green in Laundry Business is almost impossible to do but its doable as what William just proved. Congratulations William. Keep it up!
Hi all,
Finally, my laundry shop is fully operational, medyo mahina pa rin but sa awa ng Diyos, di pa kami na ze-zero customers on a daily basis kahit isa or dalawa may pumapasok naman. I will give it maybe 6 months to a year to determine if I should continue or not.
My laundry shop is called Green360 Laundry. I named it Green because I want to be the one of the first if not the first laundry to be environment friendly.
Here are the things I am implementing sa shop ko
1) I am trying to sell the idea of reuse to our customers, that instead of using plastics for packaging, if can opt to use our laundry bags then they get a discount on their laundry.
2) I have a drying cabinet since maliit lang space namin (9 sqm), I don’t have the space to dry the clothes. What I did was to basically use the exhaust of the dryers and direct it into the cabinet. I installed multiple layers of screen to minimize the lints from entering the cabinet. I got the idea from a seminar I attended sa TLRC. Instead of a drying room, I made it into a cabinet. I patterned my design sa internet.
3) Use of biodegradable laundry detergent. I searched the internet for biodegradable soap and I found one which has good reviews and it very accommodating. Please visit Charlie’s soap (www.charliesoap.com). I tested it using my towels without using fabric softeners and it wasn’t as soft as the one that I used softeners with but it is acceptable. I want to experiment using alternative biodegradable fabric softeners (i.e. white vinegar) para 95% biodegradable mga gamit ko except for dry cleaning
Plus another advantage of using Charlie’s soap is that it is a low suds detergent which means the detergent will easily rinse out so less use of water. One tablespoon of Charlie’s soap is enough for one load.
My plan to import Charlie’s soap by bulk and sell it to other laundry shop or residential owners. The price will be very competitive. Based on my comp*tation, it will be around Php 7.50 – Php 8 per 7 kg dry load. In case anyone of you is interested, please pm me.
I hope to promote the use of biodegradable detergents to other laundry owners. Think of it as our way to helping the environment
