Posted by mrlaundry in June 9th 2011

jaypot Said,May 22nd, 2011 @11:34 pm

Hi Ms Etten,
I am very thankful I finally found your helpful site specially on us- newbie. I am planning to start this kind of venture but I need your advise before i will proceed in purchasing the equipment. I dont Have any idea with this biz but with the help of this blog I learned alot and pursue me to put up one soonest..

  • What is better machine : front load or top load?
  • Frontload, it being water efficient, and for me it cleans better than top load.

  • what kg capacity is necessary in starting up-
  • a pair of 10 kg capacity washer and dryer would be a good start

  • DRYERS: gas or electric?
  • gas, logic is just like in our homes, we use gas stove, instead of electric stove because electricity is expensive.

  • can you please refer me a good supplier
  • No particular supplier in mind, just visit appliance stores and choose among those displayed

  • Any brand do you prefer? which will be less maintenance with superb performance
  • No brand in particular,

  • I am planning to start with P-Up station and with oncall p-up+delivery
  • Just make sure you can manage to monitor both your main and your pick up station.

  • Is there any seminar within manila this coming july or june 2011? and how can I buy your module maam.
  • There’s a seminar happening in Manila on June 25, 2011, kindly check on my post. Seminar comes with free modules already. ;)

  • I want to start with 2 machine and 2 dryers…
  • That’s a good start
Please help me, and looking forward to meet you maam in one of your seminar.

    Live. Love. Share!

    Prepayment, Should It Be Imposed?

Posted by mrlaundry in May 20th 2011

    technospin Said

    Hi, Monette:

Is it a good idea to ask clients for a downpayment?

I used to require a 50% downpayment for all services at P200 and above then decided to stop doing so ’cause some clients have their laundry done way before payday and do not have the cash to pay in advance.

However, I noticed that, lately, I have a lot of unclaimed laundry (less than 30 days pa naman), but I could definitely use the cash for various business expenses… right here, right now. Well, instead of waiting, waiting, and waiting for my receivables.

    Appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Thanks,
    Grinch

    Hi Grich,

Imposing a 50% deposit or prepayment is ok for as long as the customer agrees into it. Some laundry shops offer a prepayment promo wherein they pay in advance in exchange for a discount. Some customers agrees to pay also, without questions. Bottom line really is how your customers would react to it.

Regardless, I think we should not be worried wether the customer would claim or not. We the laundry shop owners are not at the losing end, they are. If they don’t claim the laundry items, we would always have a way to turn it into cash, and we would always have a surplus.

    Have a nice day!

What To Do When You Lose Drive Going To Your Business

Posted by mrlaundry in April 28th 2011

    Submitted on 2011/04/13 at 5:40pm
    hi ms.monette,
its summer once again and i’m so sad that our laundry business is slow. when we used to have an average of 40 plus on rainy season, we average 30 nowadays.we don’t want to have promo naman. naiinip na ako na kumita ang shop ko ng 50k a month so i can hire a supervisor coz i want to go back to teaching. but with our present income, hindi pa namin mag hire additional personnel.i bet ganito rin experience ng maraming laundry shop. sometimes, i lose drive to go there kasi wala naman akong gagawin dun i do the folding by the way. please help.
    thanks

    Hi Meann,

All businesses encounter the low season, as there are also peak months and high season. What do we do then? We get the average income for both seasons and observe. Are we making money or not? If we do, that’s good news. If we don’t, then we have to do something to make it work.
However, as you said, sometimes you lose drive of going to the shop because you don’t have things to do. Well there’s no such thing as “nothing to do”. We always find something especially if it’s interesting, if it’s making money, :)

I suggest you overhaul the shop. Do some rearranging of things, racks, check on your inventory, relocate your storage, tables and baskets. That would freshen things up and change your perspective.
Get to know your customers, do some flyering and much as you don’t want to do promo, yet you want to pull up the income, no choice but you have to offer.

With all those things you need to do, I don’t see any reason why you would miss going to the shop.

    Goodluck!!
