I’m one of your seminar attendees from way back August of 2010. Unfortunately, I had to shelve my plans for a laundry shop then because of financial concerns. However, I’m glad to inform you that we finally started with the laundry business. Our shop is located in Las Pinas and is aptly named Dr. Sun Laundry Center.
I have a few questions though, I hope that you would be kind enough to answer some of them.
*We are using fabcon from a local manufacturer of laundry supplies, but we cannot get the desired smell of our laundry. Di masyado mabango yung finished product namin. Can you give us some advise.
*In our seminar, we didn’t really touch much on marketing strategies to improve sales. Can you give us some tips on how to improve our sales. So far kasi di pa pumapalo ang sales namin, although sa mga ibang laundry shop in our area (there are 2) e di na halos magkasya ang damit sa shop nila. How can we get at least a piece of the market their getting?? So far, we tried flyers and 5+1 promo. Ganun po ba talaga ang nag-uumpisa sa laundry business?

Congratulations on your new laundry business!
As for your questions-

1. Fabric conditioners are used for conditioning (para lumambot ang damit) the fabric, not really to provide the desired smell. However, if you are using one that is provided by a supplier, I suggest you ask them to bring you different sample so that you would have different choices or options. I hope you did not stock much or you will have to use up all your inventory before you can replace for a new scent. it would also help to ask the supplier if the scent evaporates when subjected to high temperature ( dryer). If this is so, then it is useless to ask for a different scent. I suggest you instead use fabric freshener to give scent to the clothes you process.

2. We have tackled on the marketing strategies, maybe your attention wasn’t there when we discussed it. As for marketing, it would help if your shop has a catchy appearance so that you would get customers attention. Is your shop visible enough? A lot of flyering and promos would help too. Keep a record of your customers number so that you can ask for a feedback of your services. Are they satisfied with how their clothes are processed? Your staff, are they accommodating enough?

3. If your competition is over flowing with customers, I don’t see any reason para hindi ka rin pasukin ng customers. Unless there is something wrong. Yes, ganun talaga ang nag uumpisa. You have to have patience and observe also what could be done to improve.

A customer also came to our shop the other day, holding a shirt he said wasn’t cleaned. It appeared it has also make up foundation stain that needs special handling

What to do with such cases?

What we do is treat them with special attention. That is hand wash, spotting and wash them separately and individually. This process would take much time of staff and therefore priced at a premium.

The customer that walked in our shop said “The dirt wasn’t removed.” I replied, “Sir, you see we laundry your clothes thru machines, so that’s most likely not just soiled, it needs handwashing for the stubborn dirt to be removed.” the customer looked at me and nodded in agreement. He handed me the item at the same time asked ” How much would that be?”

So you see, you don’t have to always give in to complaints and free requests. Sometimes all we need to do is explain in a nice way.

When will the next seminar in cebu be? intrested po ako to join the bandwagon dahil sa tips n tricks of this blog. I currently have a water refilling station with one R.O. membrane. And if I have to add a laundry shop beside it, I’m planning to add another membrane for the waste water for the laundry (just to make sure water would be soft for the clothes). Dahil sa libre na ang tubig, I can afford to upgrade my system to accommodate a need for clean soft water pra sa laundry. thnx.

Hi! When will be the next seminar? Next seminar is on August 27,2011. Last Saturday of the month.

1) Pls advise what are the legal permits needed. How long will it take to process the application of permits?

Legal permits: same as all the businesses we set up,

BIR Permit

Depends on your area, how long they would process your application.

2) Do we apply for permit first prior to setting up the laundry location or the permit will follow?

Set up the laundry first.

3) What is the ideal area size for a starter?

20 to 30 sq.m will do.

4) What do you recommend – generic or branded detergents? powder or liquid detergent?

I use branded detergent, in powder form.

5) The owner of the establisment informed us that the water and electric are “submetered”. Do we need to apply for separate meter? Is this the responsiblity or the tenant?

Some of my business locations have their own water and electric meter, some don’t. It all depends on you. But I’d prefer having my own.

6) How much is the commercial rate of electric per kph?

You can check that on your own water and electric billing.

gud day po nag attend po ako ng seminar nyo last may 28, and were planning to put the laundry in a condominium ok lang po ba na magprice kmi ng 30/kl.

Ok lang, mas mataas mas maganda. Kung kayo lang ang laundry shop dun sa area at maganda ang service nyo, di papansinin ang maliit na diperensya sa presyo.

and pano po ba kung mag pick up and deliver kami kailangan po ba na magdala kami ng timbangan pagpick up ng laundry kc po ang problem ko is magkakahiwalay yun mga building and wala po silang service elevator kya po mahihirapan yun tao ko na magdala ng timbangan, ano po kya ang magandang gawing kc po may laundry po sa labas ng condo bka po pag di kmi pumarehas ng price sa kanila eh dun sila magpalaba,

Sa shop namin, nagdadala kami ng timbangan tuwing magpi pick up kami. Rain or shine. With service elevator or wala. What I’m trying to say is, if it’s gonna do good to your business, why not? Kung mahihirapan ang staff, find someone who is capable na hindi mahihirapan.

Kung san kayo kukuha ng LPG nyo, dun kayo magpagawa ng gas piping. Sa mga water line naman kung sinong supplier nyo sa machines, sila mag recommend sa inyo kung anong lay out at piping ang dapat. Libre lang sa supplier nyo yun, ask them to send a technician to your area.

meron bang provision ang batas tungkol sa paggawa ng terms and conditions?

Wala akong nalalaman na provision na batas tungkol sa terms and conditions sa laundry businesses ngunit para sa akin, mahalaga ang tiwala ng bawat isa bilang isang kostumer at isang nagmamay ari ng establisimento. Sa ganitong paraan, mas nagiging maganda ang resulta ng trabaho, at pumapa ibabaw ang mas magandang layunin.

Dapat ba na ang isang terms and condition e pro customer at nagproprotekta sa interest ng customer?

Ang terms and conditions ay nag p-protekta sa magkabilang panig, sa interes ng customer at sa nag may ari ng establishment.

Tama ba na kapag nawala o napalitan ang isang item na ipinalaba e walang pananagutan ang may ari ng laundry shop?o kya e babayaran lang ng 3times sa ginastos mo sa pagpapalaba?

May pananagutan ang may ari ng laundry shoppe depende sa terms and conditions na nakasaad sa job order. Nasa costumer na lang kung tatanggapin nya ang naka saad. Sa sarili naming pwesto, 3x ng halaga ng palaba ang aming sinasagot.

Dapat nating tandaan na sa aming mga nagmamay ari ng negosyo, ang layunin namin parati ay makapag bigay ng magandang serbisyo sa mga costumer. Ang customer ang susi sa tagumpay ng bawat negosyo, kaya’t sila rin ang pinaka unang dapat bigyan ng importansya, sa lahat ng oras – sa lahat bagay. Pinapakinggan ang panig, at tinitignan kung pano ito matutugunan. Diplomasya ang kailangan, at higit sa lahat – respeto.
